Email: seresamcdowell@g.harvard.edu

Seresa grew up in Olanta, SC. She received an associate in applied science degree in Chemical Technology from Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC, and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. As an undergraduate at UW- Milwaukee, Seresa conducted research in the lab of Prof. Alan Schwabacher, where she worked on the synthesis of small peptides that inhibit the folding of b-barrel proteins by the Bam complex. She joined the Kahne lab in 2021 to continue her studies on the design of inhibitors of the Bam complex.

Seresa loves organic chemistry and is particularly interested in using chemistry for structural reengineering of molecules that can be used as drugs.

When she is not doing amazing science in the lab, Seresa is listening to music, solving a sudoku, going on scenic walks, and DIY-ing cosmetic products.
