Rosalie was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, but spent her formative years in Oxford, Mississippi. She graduated with her B.A. in Chemistry and in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. While there, she worked on the synthesis of novel unnatural amino acid fluorescent probes under the direction of Prof. Amos B. Smith III. Rosalie completed her Ph.D. in Prof. Michael J. Krische's group at the University of Texas at Austin. Her doctoral thesis was focused on the enantioselective total synthesis of a type II polyketide antibiotic natural product, formicamycin H. Interested in learning more about how to combat antibiotic resistance, she joined the Kahne lab, where she is investigating how the BAM complex folds specific outer membrane proteins in gram-negative bacteria.
Besides research, Rosalie likes spending meaningful time with friends and family, listening to audiobooks, cooking, and exploring Boston. She also enjoys hikes with beautiful scenery, playing the piano and violin, and attending classical music concerts.
