Youngseon grew up in Seoul, South Korea and graduated from Seoul National University in 2018 with a B.S. degree in chemistry with highest honors. As an undergraduate, she worked as a summer research intern with Prof. Giuseppe Battaglia at University College London, synthesizing pH sensitive block copolymer for drug delivery to penetrate the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB). At Seoul National University, she worked in Prof. Seokhee Kim’s Lab, working on a novel enzymatic cross-linking which generates a modified peptide with four hairpin-like bicyclic repeats. Now, she is jointly mentored by Prof. Dan Kahne and Prof. Suzanne Walker, studying how cell wall biogenesis is regulated in the process of cell division.

Outside the lab, she enjoys making short films, playing the piano, and cooking asian foods at home. She is definitely an outgoing type of person and you can find her jogging with friends along the Charles River on weekends or having a picnic at the park.
