Ben graduated from Stanford University in 2018 with a degree in chemistry with honors and a minor in mathematics. While at Stanford, he did biophysical chemistry research for three years in Steve Boxer’s lab studying the dynamics of short hydrogen bonds in photoactive proteins. In the Kahne Lab, Ben is interested in studying essential Gram-negative outer membrane complexes, and designing novel antibiotics that target those complexes.

Ben grew up in Seattle, Washington, where he learned to passionately despise bad weather. Among other things, Ben enjoys working in the lab late at night, long-distance backpacking, playing drums and electric guitar (badly), cooking east Asian food, playing Magic: The Gathering, and attending progressive metal concerts.
